The St. Bernard Project is an independent, not-for-profit organization that was founded to help families who lost their homes due to Hurricane Katrina, attain humane, affordable and sustainable housing. The St. Bernard Project believes that housing is a human right. The St. Bernard Project is a direct service organization that works in both St. Bernard Parish and Orleans Parish. The St. Bernard Project, with support from over 15,000 volunteers and 5,000 donors, rebuilds and builds homes so that citizens have good, safe places to live. We work with all the members of the community without regard to race, creed, gender, age, religious affiliation, sexual orientation or physical ability.
